Justyna is coming!

 

Justyna arrived one day before Sketchtour SHA and as soon as she was there, we went sketching in the nice medieval city of Vellberg. In my upper sketch, I sketched her into the watercolour...;)

 

This was a wonderful warmup for us as the next day the Sketchtour Schwäbisch Hall was about to begin. (The left sketch is Justynas and the right one is mine.)

Vellberger Magnolie / Magnolia at Vellberg

 

That week I was the co-host of our Landscape Art Group and sent in some photos of the wonderful magnolia tree we can admire every year at this time. I visit the place quite often and the best way to enjoy the beauty is to get an ice cream in the closeby icecream parlour and walk to the tree which is opposite within the fortified walls of the city and sit on a bench to admire this awesome tree.

Next day, we were heading to Vellberg. My sketching buddy Katharina @rinibommel joined in sketching and also brought some hot tea. Wonderful. The weather god was not on our side. It was raining cats and dogs and it was bloody cold. Here is my first sketch in the rain:

In the end as Katharina and I tried to finish our sketch, sitting under the roof of Rathaus Vellberg, while Jan played music and danced beside us. Great day, very tough sketchers!

Am nächsten Tag fuhren wir nach Vellberg. Meine Sketchfreundin Katharina @rinibommel malte mit uns und brachte sogar heissen Tee mit. Das war toll. Der Wettergott war leider nicht ganz auf unserer Seite. Es regnete ununterbrochen und war sehr kalt. Am Ende, als Katharina und ich noch unsere Skizzen fertig machten, spielte Jan Musik und tanzte um uns herum. Ein schöner Tag für Extrem-Urbansketcher.

Vellberg, Torturm zum Städtle

 

That Tuesday afternoon, the sun came out of the grey sky, we had before and I spontaneously quit work for an hour of leisure sketching time in between. My sketchbag is always ready in the car so I can quickly leave. 

I intended to have a coffee in Vellberg and sketch a bit. To my surprise the Café was closed, but no worries, the sun is still there and I sketch one of the towers. 

I hurry, as it is getting very cold (6° Celsius). Speedsketching. For the sky I use the skyblue colour, Justyna gave me a while ago. No need to care about lots of details...A little time for sketching is always worth the effort!

An diesem Dienstag Nachmittag kam plötzlich die Sonne aus dem Hochnebel hervor und ich nahm mir spontan 1 h Auszeit, mein Malzeug steht immer schon bereit. Ich wollte auf einen Café nach Vellberg fahren. Als ich dort ankam, war leider das Schwedencafé zu, aber ich kam ja auch wegen der Sonne und der schönen Umgebung. Also fing ich an mit einem Buntstift schnell vorzuzeichnen.

 

Die Sonne stand schon sehr tief und es dauerte nicht lange, da war sie auch schon wieder weg, aber ich warf dann mit hoher Geschwindigkeit die Farbe aufs Bild und schwupps war auch ich schon wieder weg.

 

Bei dieser Kälte ist es nicht möglich auf Feinheiten zu achten, denn wir hatten 6 ° Celsius und ich wurde am Ende immer schneller, trotz der Handschuhe. 

Ein Stündchen Auszeit lohnt sich immer!

Mal wieder in Vellberg (unfinished)

The weather was very good that day and I decided to spend an hour of my late afternoon in Vellberg. I sat under the arcades and only few people were around as it was a weekday. There is a little wall where I sat so I could comfortably use it as a table for my watercolour stuff.

Although I had a great time, my leisure time was over after a short hour, so I could not finish my watercolour. No doubt, I will have to come back soon. 

Das Wetter war an diesem Spätnachmittag so gut, dass ich beschloss für eine Stunde Malen nach Vellberg zu fahren. Ich saß unter den Arcaden und nur einige wenige Leute waren an diesem Wochentag unterwegs. Dort wo ich saß gibt es eine kleine Wand, die ich sehr komfortabel als Ablage für mein Aquarellzubehör nutzen konnte. Ein schöner Platz.

Leider musste ich nach einer Stunde meine Freizeitaktivität beenden. Mein Aquarell ist noch nicht fertig. Kein Zweifel, ich muss bald wiederkommen.

Tor am Sixischen Turm

Once again a very small sketch: On the right in front of the tower there is again yesterdays hunters house (which nowadays is a museum). The wall surrounding the city is in front. We are outside the once protecting wall.

Nochmal eine sehr kleine Skizze: Auf der rechten Seite vor dem Turm sieht man wieder das gestern gepostete Jägerhaus (das jetzt ein Museum ist).
Die umlaufende Stadtmauer liegt direkt vor uns. Wir sind praktisch ausserhalb der damals schützenden Mauer.

This small sketch was done on an evening in summer when I met with my fellow sketchers in Vellberg. In this house there is a museum right now.

Dies ist eine Mini - Skizze, die ich an einem Sommerabend in Vellberg anlässlich eines Treffen mit meinen Malfreunden gemacht habe. In diesem Jägerhaus ist nun das Museum von Vellberg untergebracht.
