Landscape - Etretat, Normandie (France)

 

Bonjour les amis! This is how a weekend should begin. Make a good coffee and check Natalias prompts for the week. This was the prompt of week 56 and I really enjoyed that subject from Normandy, France. The famous cliffs of Etretat, where so many well known painters already stayed and painted.

Out of my comfort zone I used crayons (watersoluble) on a thick toned paper just to try something new.

Ausstellung, Exhibiton, Exposition

 

Some of my lockdown watercolours will be displayed in an exhibition in Poitiers, France. You are very welcome to visit, if you are in the area.

Einige meiner Aquarelle, die während des Lockdowns entstanden sind, sind in einer Ausstellung in Poitiers, Frankreich vom 19. bis 20. Juni zu sehen. Wenn ihr in der Nähe seid, seht sie euch gerne an.

Segelboot

Let's get back to other things...out of the harbour into the open sea. The sky was cloudy that Sunday in St. Gilles, but the weather was nice enough for a cruise. Another oil painting today.

Jetzt mal wieder ein ganz anderes Thema...raus aus dem Hafen ins offene Meer. Der Himmel war etwas bewölkt an jenem Sonntag in St. Gilles, aber das Wetter war gut genug für einen Ausflug. Das ist mal wieder ein Ölbild.

This is an oil painting I do very rarely and it shows a French landscape/seascape.

Dies ist mal wieder eines meiner raren Ölbilder. Es zeigt eine französische Landschaft am Meer.

Long week-end, so today I have an oil painting with a seascape from France for you.

Langes Wochenende, hier zur Abwechslung mal ein Ölbild, das eine französische Meereslandschaft zeigt.

Fischer

Today an small oil painting: Fishing in the harbour entrance seems to be a common sport of elder men in France. The women sit in groups behind in their folding chairs and chat.

Heute ein kleines Ölbild: Fischen an der Hafeneinfahrt ist wohl ein verbreiteter Sport von älteren Männern in Frankreich. Die Frauen sitzen in Grüppchen mit ihren Klappstühlen dahinter und plaudern.

Fischerboot

A fishing boat in France which is on its way back to the harbour. I did this in oil on board which is a rare fun in between my watercolour addiction...you have to think opposite of watercolour which is working light to dark. In oils you work dark to light.

Ein französisches Fischerboot ist auf seinem Weg zurück zum Hafen. Dies ist ein Ölbild, das ich zwischen meinen häufigeren Aquarellen gemacht habe. Das ist auch spassig, nur muss man umdenken, weil beim Ölmalen von dunkel nach hell gearbeitet wird und beim Aquarell genau anders herum.

Pinien

 

These are the wonderful pine trees in a deserted Pine Forest close to the Atlantic Ocean in France. The drawing was made in September two years ago.

Hier handelt es sich um die tollen Pinien in einem lichten Pinienwald an der Antlantikküste in Frankreich. Die Skizze habe ich im September vor zwei Jahren gemacht.

This is one of my rare Oils. I did not do too many of them so far, but it is real fun.

Hier eines meiner raren Ölbilder. Ich habe ja noch nicht so viele Ölbilder gemalt, aber es macht grossen Spaß.

Coastline

Today again the Atlantic Ocean. The sand is nearly white. I used a skin tone for it, otherwhise the impression would have been too cold for a beach scene.

Heute wieder der Atlantik. Der Sand ist tatsächlich sehr sehr hell. Ich habe einen Hautton verwendet, damit das Bild nicht zu kühl wirkt.

Rainy Day

Today I got an oil painting for you showing the Atlantic sea with rainy weather. 

Heute habe ich wieder ein Ölbild, das den Atlantik bei regnerischem Wetter zeigt.

Stormy weather

On the Atlantic Coast the weather is often very rough and windy. I like that.

Am Atlantik ist das Wetter oft sehr rauh und windig. Ich mag das.

Bretagne

This seascape is one of my favourite because the whole situation was really that colourful after the heavy storm that raged...

Diese Strandlandschaft ist eine meiner Liebsten, weil der Himmel nach dem starken Sturm tatsächlich so farbenprächtig war... 

Montargis

Montargis is a city with around 14500 inhabitants in the French Département Loiret. The houses and bridges are decorated with flowers abundantly.

Montargis ist eine Stadt mit ca. 14500 Einwohnern im französischen Département Loiret. Die Häuser und Brücken sind über und über mit Blumen geschmückt.

Zwei Türme am Hafen

A similar painting than the sketch a few days ago, but this time in watercolour and I used a bit of gesso to paint the white in the water...

Ein ähnliches Bild wie die Skizze von vor ein paar Tagen, aber diesmal ist das Bild ein Aquarell und ich hab ein wenig Gesso für die weissen Parts im Wasser verwendet.
