In between my portraiting stream I needed a different subject for today, so I had the idea of doing a relaxing watercolour sketch with three primaries on simple sketchbook paper. This is how I proceeded:
- Made a colour swatch of three colours
- Did my line drawing of the flowers
- Wet paper (it buckled a bit as it was a simple thin sketchbook paper)
- Set the three colours to do their work and encouraged them to mix on the paper
- Let dry
- Glazing: Painted hard edges towards the objects
- Let dry
- Made darker values to shape and put darkest darks in the end + additional green tones which were not mixable by these colours.
