Ein entspannter Platz mit alten Bäumen

My upper watercolour shows the beautiful gate of an old cemetery (Ehrenfriedhof) close to Volksfestplatz in the middle of Crailsheim. I like the large trees there and the little chapel inside is worth a visit.

Ich wünsche euch allen ein friedvolles, entspanntes Weihnachtsfest und vielleicht findet ihr ja auch etwas Zeit zum Malen.

Mein oberes Bild zeigt das schöne Tor am alten Ehrenfriedhof in der Mitte von Crailsheim. Ich mag die grossen, alten Bäume dort und es gibt eine kleine, sehenswerte Kapelle.

April, April...

Already April. Shadows on the wall in cold early spring weather. They seemed to be greenish on the yellow ochre remains of the wall which sheltered the old part of Crailsheim in ancient years. Everything is calm and streets are still deserted. We stay at home. This watercolour of Crailsheim is done from a photo. 

 

Es ist schon April. Schatten der tiefstehenden Sonne liegen auf der Stadtmauer an einem kalten Frühjahrstag. Die Schatten sehen fast grünlich aus auf der gelblichen Wand, die einst die Altstadt von Crailsheim vor Eindringlingen schützte. Alles ist ruhig und die Straßen sind wie leergefegt. 

Wir bleiben Zuhause. Dieses Aquarell von Crailsheim entstand von einer Fotovorlage.

Johanneskirche in late fall

In late fall I had some visitors from the U.S. to visit Crailsheim and we had beautiful sunny weather. On this occasion I took a photo of the colourful foliage around Johanneskirche. Now, in the beginning of the New Year I finally find time to paint a larger sheet of watercolour with the fall impression and the strong shadows of the exuberant abundance.

This painting is based on a primary triad of watercolours. The most important was to leave some white within the composition which means that some parts have to be carefully spared out while drawing, like the fence for example.

Im Spätherbst hatte ich Besucher aus den USA in Crailsheim und das Wetter war super. Bei dieser Gelegenheit habe ich Fotos von den schön gefärbten Pflanzen an der Johanneskirche in Crailsheim gemacht. Im Neuen Jahr habe ich nun endlich Zeit gefunden das lang von mir geplante Bild des farbenprächtigen Herbsteindruckes zu malen.

Das Bild basiert wieder auf einer Triade von Primärfarben. Wichtig war für mich, dass ich einige Stellen in der Komposition weiss gelassen habe und dort vorsichtig drumherum gemalt habe (wie z.B. am Zaun).
