Calabria again...jippieee!

 

So much behind in posting, therefore here is one of my favourite views from the Coastline. Love this view.

In the meantime I flew back to Calabria twice, therefore here are some of my favourite Calabria sketches I made there at my earlier visit:

Hello Calabria - good to be back

 

Yes it is strange to post this now at Christmas time, but it is not so long ago when I had some nice travels to Calabria. A lot of time sketching and meeting other artists.

The travels started in Lamezia where I did my first sketch (full landscape spread):

 

This time I drew the outline with a coloured pen instead of pencil as I had to hurry to get the train...

 

On my double spread, the left sketch shows a beachbar, where I had a good view to the ocean, but sketched the interior (?) and the right one shows the coastal street to the harbour.

This spread shows part of the harbour and I sketched this earlier this year on another visit to the city.

 

To finish this post I will show you the lovely view from a balcony to the harbour.

This one was a very fast one and probably the most fun.

 

I sketched a lot more which I might show later... I gotta go, it is Christmas.

USk Deutschlandtreffen - Meeting friends

 

We met at Hackescher Markt for Sketching together

And then the most relaxed sketch close to Kulturforum (Matthäuskirche) where we got provisioned with drinks and fruit salad as part of the Kultursommer Festival while sketching.

USk Deutschlandtreffen in Berlin - Sketchwalk 2 - Zoo und Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche

 

Turned out that this would be one of my favourite sketching moments. This time I had enough time and even had a light breakfast while I sketched this one at BIKINI.

My second sketch of this sketchwalk was a bit further down the road at the zoo entrance

Sketchtrip to Budapest 1, Arrival - get the feel of the city

 

Me and my friend Justyna from USk Poland were thinking about meeting somewhere still in the month of December to sketch together. We chose Budapest, as it is easy to reach from both of us. No big planning...just meet, sightsee, sketch.

My plane was a bit earlier than hers so I still could sketch one of the beautiful bridges in the dawn. This one leads to Gellért, which is a unique art deco hotel and bath. I was flashed by the beauty of the city by night.

Turned out that Justynas flight was so late, that we agreed to meet the next morning.

USk Hohenlohe - Breakfast in Schwäbisch Hall

 

Katharina (@rinibommel) had the idea to meet in Schwäbisch Hall for a nice breakfast sketching session. What a view. While Katharina did a panoramic and a fast sketch of the wonderful breakfast, I tried to sketch a friend who sat opposite. 

The lovely lady who served the breakfast is the heart and soul of the restaurant (and already known to some of my sketchfriends;)

Later we made a little walk along the river to Ilge and then to Johanniter church.

Then we headed towards Landratsamt and did our next sketch from the stairs. A parrot in the opposite window made funny noises. Katharina sketched a very detailed and complicated house, while I tried to sketch part of the skulpture on the stairs, which I found very dynamic. I shortened the rope in order part of the skulpture of the women tying the rope could be seen...

 

SKETCHTOUR KIRCHBERG - Sketchwalk

 

 

Then there was the sketchwalk. Katharina leading, while Claudia and I drove back the cars and came from the other side of the bridge over Jagst river.

I sketched some wild garlic and a second sketch with the signs and Ockenauer Steg. Katharina had this fancy app, telling all the names of wild flowers and when she checked my sketch, the app said: "wild garlic". So my sketch is ok.

 

Sketching at Ockenauer Steg in the wilderness was great fun.

SKETCHTOUR KIRCHBERG - Internationales Malertreffen / International Meeting of Urban Sketchers

A few days ago we had this international USk meeting called SKETCHTOUR KIRCHBERG at Kirchberg castle. 

Plein-air painters from 8 different countries (2 continents) joined in to paint landscape, city, portrait etc. The techniques were very diverse from inksketching, watercolouring, crayons to acrylic or marker paintings. We did Panoramasketching and Nightsketching as well and my sketchbuddy Katharina (@rinibommel) and I organized a sketchwalk from Mistlau to Kirchberg with different stops for landscape, river and floral paintings.

Lots of my old friends came there and also a small number of newbies.

We sketched three days in the stunning surrounding of Kirchberg and had such a good time.

Thank you to all Sketcher-friends for the good vibes, arttalks and new ideas you brought us.

SKETCHTOUR KIRCHBERG

Plein-air Maler aus 8 verschiedenen Ländern (und 2 Kontinenten), folgten meiner Einladung und trafen sich zum Austausch, fürs Stadt-, Landschafts- und Portraitmalen und natürlich auch um Skizzen der Hohenlohe Umgebung anzufertigen. Wir lebten im Schloss Kirchberg. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Die Maltechniken reichten von Tuschemalerei über Aquarelltechnik hin zu Acryl- oder Kreidematerialien.

Auf dem Programm stand ausser Portrait-, Panorama- und Stadtmalerei auch ein Sketchwalk von Mistlau nach Kirchberg, (geführt von Katharina) mit verschiedenen Stops zur Landschaftsmalerei sowie verschiedene Nightsketch-Aktivitäten in der Kirchberger Altstadt.
