#2020PragueSketchFest - Sketchbook Video

You can flip through one of my sketchbooks from Prague by clicking on the upper video sign. It is just a 30 seconds video. Have fun.

#2020PragueSketchFest - Prague Main Station

What more to say than: Thanks and see you soon again.

***

Btw wanted to state that I tried out a waterbrush for some of my drawings in Madeira as well as in Prague and could say the following:

PRO: It is more handy at times and can be used anywhere where you have to be quick or could not use a water container (i.e. museum or the like).

CONTRA: It is not as precise as a real brush and I was not able to achieve the darkest darks I wanted to get.

In my opinion it could sometimes be a plus to have a waterbrush, but at this state it will never replace a good watercolour brush.

#2020PragueSketchFest - Café Imperial

On my last day in Prague I still had time to go to Mucha Museum and have a Hazelnut Cake at Café Imperial. Did some private sketching before leaving. Btw the cake was fantastic and the surrounding stunning. Had to leave which is a bit sad as I liked the creative marathon each day, the people and the surroundings. Have to come back soon.

Muss bald mal wieder kommen.

#2020PragueSketchFest - Grand Café Orient

A fantastic cubist café is the Grand Café Orient in Prague. I felt like at home somehow. It was my last sketching opportunity with the USk Prague friends and we had a great time there. The sympathetic Delphine was my subject for the foreground. The friendly waiter by the cash desk in the background moved a lot so I had to interrupt and continue each time he came back. The decoration and the lamps are fantastic for a sketcher. This is my personal favourite sketch so far. The feeling for the place and the surrounding friends made it a very good experience for me...like I was in the flow...

#2020PragueSketchFest - Old Town Square and Stone Bell House

The afternoon sketching was outside on a beautiful square near Stone Bell House. At a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius I sat on the ground, my back to a wall and a bit protected by a dustbin. People watched a lot as I painted this watercolour and a tourist couple asked me for a photograph. They even filmed me, my painting and the real Stone Bell house for comparison. What a fun, my drawing will be on TV in Saudi Arabia or so...;)

Time was nearly over and just before we met again at the meeting point, I did a fast one of a statue with the watersoluble pen.

Another portrait sketch. This time it is of artist Leisan who sat opposite. I sketched and had some good food and nice art talk there.

When I did the fast two min. sketch below, I used the watersoluble pen I received from LK Bing during a workshop in Amsterdam. Then I took a dot card with fun colours to give it some colour.

My sketching friend Johanna was the one who informed me in the first place about the event and after having had two days of great sketching with USk Prage, that evening, we met for more private dinner at a nice restaurant in the old part of Prague. I sketched her before the meal came. This one was super fast and super fun. It is a direct watercolour.

#2020PragueSketchFest - Portrait Sketching

Now it is time to post a few of my portrait sketchings. Sketched Helena, Emma and Raj at Café Slavia and Jan Vitek the day before at dinner in Klasterni Senk.

Btw he did two super line (continuous line!) portraits of me and lots of beautiful artwork of 20 consecutive days of sketching could be found on Urbansketchers Prague Facebook Group

We had to get up early as the meeting was a breakfast sketch meet at Café Slavia. Here I could see that USk Prague is a huge group of people. They often meet twice a week in normal times. I have never seen such enthousiastic sketchers (besides on Symposia).

My watercolour sketch shows a view from inside out to Most Legil (Bridge). You can see the right window frame and the red blinds in my drawing. The tram was not easy to draw as it went too fast for me to sketch and the wagons varied from old to modern...

more tomorrow...

#2020PragueSketchFest - Brevnov Brewery

Time goes so fast and I would like to tell you that I was merely at home from Madeira, the next Urban Sketching event came up.

I travelled to Prague for the #2020PragueSketchFest which meant non-stop sketching for 20 consecutive days. A 20 day marathon for the Prague Group and a long week-end for me. I found warm, welcoming and extremely passionate sketchers there.

The first day we were invited to attend a guided visit at Brevnov Monastery Brewery. We later had three hours to sketch in the brewery building at our leisure. When the tour began the Prague Sketchers followed the guide sketching while standing and I tried it as well. It resulted in just fast more or less unfinished sketches:

I am not used to standing while sketching and walking is even worse...

Later I installed myself at a mill where the hob is milled (this is the green machine, although in this drawing the broom is the star somehow;) ...and drew it at about 5 Degrees Celsius as the big doors were open...I thought to myself: Only the hardest survive...

So many interesting machines. Some of us went into the cellar and some sketched outside.

The Prague Sketchers are quite tough.

Then I came to the copper brewing tanks The temperature here was nearly as cold as before. We talked a lot at that place as there were other sketchers right beside me. My hands were frozen and after that I had to heat up in a warm room.

In the warm room there were these old metal caraffes - I was not able to do any more complicated drawing. We went to Klasterni Senk together to share our drawings and to have a bite + beer.

Here are some of the drawings done at the brewery.

The first day was great fun, let's see what happens on my next day in Prague...
