It was raining all morning the last Wednesday in October and I was hoping that the weather would get better in the afternoon (as forecasted) for our mini-sketch-outing in Leofels. This means that it was just (my watercolour friend) Adelheid and me.
We came there and everything was still wet and the sky was cloudy. The strong wind and drizzling rainfall in the beginning of our sketch did not prevent us from staying.
Adelheid just said, that you could not use rubber gum on wet paper...I told her...it does not matter to leave some lines...it even could make the sketch more interesting.
My drawing was done with a brown usual coloured pencil and then we both watercoloured on site. For the arches I was happy that the wet weather prevented my colours from drying too fast, so I could insert lots of different colours wet-in-wet as well as in the foliage of the large tree.
The walls in the background I barely touched as they seemed to be so much lighter than the arches in the foreground.
Am letzten Mittwoch im Oktober machten Adelheid und ich uns auf, um am Nachmittag zusammen in Leofels zu malen. Das Wetter war eher regnerisch und wir hatten uns dick eingepackt, um nicht zu verfrieren.
Leofels ist bei uns bekannt für Theater und Folk-Festivals. Jetzt war kein Mensch unterwegs. Schön für uns. Adelheid sagte, dass Radieren bei dieser Nässe eigentlich nicht möglich sei, denn das verschmiert alles. Ich entgegnete die Striche einfach stehen zu lassen und den Radiergummi zu vergessen. Das macht das Bild sowieso interessanter.
Als ich die Bögen im Vordergrund aquarellierte hatte ich genug Zeit verschiedene Farben einfließen zu lassen, da die Farbe bei dieser Witterung nicht so schnell trocknete. Den Hintergrund hab ich hell gelassen, denn die Mauern waren so viel heller, als die Bögen.
Irgendwann wurde es uns dann aber doch zu kalt und wir traten den Heimweg an.
