In the afternoon, we went to Sulzfeld and after parking the car, we did not move too far, as the city wall with the towers struck us with their beauty. We needed to do the first watercolour right there and sat under a tree close to the river behind us. By then I already thought this view was surely painted a thousand times by others and later in town I found out that lots of painters where there before. It was good fun and the weather was hot so the paint dried very fast.

Am Nachmittag fuhren wir nach Sulzfeld und direkt nachdem wir geparkt hatten, gingen wir nicht weit, denn schon die Stadtmauer mit ihren vielen Türmchen hatte uns in ihren Bann gezogen. Wir setzten uns in den Schatten eines Baumes in der Nähe des Mains und malten unser erstes Bild. Schon während des Malens dachte ich bei mir, dass diese Ansicht bestimmt schon tausende Male von anderen Künstlern gemalt worden ist und so war es auch. Die Farben trockneten extrem schnell, denn es war heiß.
