zoom portrait

Another zoom portrait party with my friends from Italy, Brazil and Canada. Thank you to all of you Antonella, Anna, Paula and Suzanne for the nice sketching event.

This time I had a different strategy and instead of my usual direct watercolour I used a coloured pencil to make a rough sketch before watercolouring. As time is always tight I did not cover the whole faces with watercolour, as I would usually do with portraits, but I left a lot of white space. This helps being quicker, as the watercolour often needs an endless time to dry which is not good if you are having only a limited time available.

Drink & Draw with USk Augsburg

Our friends from USk Augsburg invited to have a drink & draw zoom meeting about a week ago. Joachim Heinrich organised it and did a very good job as a kind of "showmaster". It was a real challenging and fun portrait party. In the beginning we could pin whoever of the about 15 attendants and make portraits to our liking

and I tried to capture as many participants as possible...enjoying the talks and the whole friendly atmosphere.

In terms of drawing it was quite challenging as everybody was drawing and moved a lot, looking up and down all the time...

After a while Joachim proposed that one person should be the model for a while and he defined a time limit. Speedsketching. The first one was a 3 minute portrait sketch and then a 1 minute sketch of the same person.

In the beginning I was having problems to adapt to the small timespan and messed up a few sketches, because my direct watercolour did not dry. Lateron I had a different strategy and just outlined the important features, which worked much better in the time given.

Here are some of my results.

We were online for about 4 hours that evening and it was pure joy for me. My thanks go to all participants and above all to Joachim and USk Augsburg for the possibilty to be part of the event.

USk Symposium 2018 in Porto, Day 4, Final Photo on Praça da Liberdade in Porto

...drink & draw with Anya, Sandra, Paula, Elin & Fairouz...

More than 800 artists from all over the world and lots of additional sketchers who did not have symposium passes and came anyhow to this extraordinary event. What a massive creative ENERGY!

The group photo of all sketchers can surely be found somewhere on the urbansketchers site (I am the red dot somewhere in the crowd...)

USK Syposium 2018 in Porto, Day 1, Lunch Drink & Draw

This was my first Drink & Draw with one old and several new friends at shop-vintage-bar Armazem where the coffee was my friend and kept me going for the afternoon first sketchwalk to Ponte Dom Luis.
