Marktbreit Painters Weekend - day 1 - close to the church

 


















Moni, Gerd and I installed ourselves in Lange Gasse, Marktbreit in order to draw the surroundings of the upper church and to enjoy the last rays of evening sun. Concerning the painting spot: I was interested in painting the tree, the structures on the walls and the nice small house (in front of the church).

I was already a bit tired. Gerd had to leave and Moni and I still did one pencil drawing at a different place in town. As we stopped drawing, we were surprised that it was already after 7 pm. I came to my hotel shortly before 8 pm and as I forgot to eat and drink in the afternoon this was the first thing to do to get back to normal again.

Now time to have a look at the outcome of that first day of relaxed drawing and painting - I spread the paper onto my hotel bed....three and a half sheets... that is quite ok. 

What I enjoyed most this day 1 of the Painters week-end is that I had as much time as I wanted and did not need to hurry at any time. I could stay at every place as long as I wanted with no limits but the weather!

Moni, Gerd und ich platzierten uns in der Lange Gasse, Marktbreit, um die Umgebung oberhalb der Kirche zu malen und die letzen Sonnenstrahlen des Tages zu genießen. Was mich an diesem Spot interessiert hat? Tja, das war auf jeden Fall der schöne Baum, die Strukturen an den alten Wänden und das kleine Häuschen mit dem grossen Tor (unterhalb der Kirche gelegen). 

Nun bin ich aber schon etwas müde geworden. Gerd musste nach Hause und Moni und ich machten noch eine Zeichnung, als wir schließlich bemerkten, dass es schon nach 19:00 Uhr war. Wir gaben dann schweren Herzens auf. Kurz vor 20:00 Uhr war ich dann schließlich in meinem Hotelzimmer und da ich nachmittags wie immer das Essen und Trinken vergessen hatte, musste ich das sofort mit einem kleine Vesper nachholen, um wieder normal zu werden.

Jetzt war die Zeit, um meine Werke dieses entspannten Maltages zu begutachten. Ich breitete sie auf dem Hotelbett aus ...dreieinhalb Bilder...das ist ganz ok.

Was ich an diesem ersten Tag des Mal-Wochenendes  besonders gut fand, ist dass ich mich nie beeilen musste und jeden Augenblick genießen konnte. Ich konnte an jedem Platz solange bleiben, wie ich Lust hatte.

Marktbreit Painters Weekend - day 1 - Maintor

We, a loose group of artist from Hohenlohe (Baden-Württemberg) and Franken (Bavaria) had a week-end appointment to draw and paint in Marktbreit (Bavaria) close to Main River. I took the whole Friday off and arrived in the late morning searching for a quiet place to do my first painting. While I was doing my watercolour at the western edge close to the river (see my unfinished painting below), my friend Moni arrived.

Soon two other painting friends joined us and we where four painters alltogether that day. Our next location was the so-called "Malerwinkel" and despite the wind we settled there for a while. We worked all at the same place as this place is probably the most famous spot in town.

Later we had a great thirst of coffee - btw if Moni where not there I would forget to eat and drink over drawing;)

There was a nice shop-with-coffee place to our left and as it was a bit cold we where happy to be able to sit inside.

Fluß und Gebäude Richtung Osten - Malerwinkel

Wir, eine lose Gruppe von Künstlern aus Hohenlohe und Franken hatten ein Wochenend-Treffen in Marktbreit verabredet. Den Freitag hatte ich mir freigenommen und kam am späten Vormittag an. Zuerst suchte ich mir ein ruhiges Plätzchen westlich vom Maintor und begann meine erste Zeichnung. Ich hatte gerade mit den Aquarellfarben begonnen, als meine Malfreundin Moni ankam.

Kurz darauf gesellten sich nocheinmal zwei Maler zu uns und wir gingen zusammen auf die andere Torseite zum sogenannten "Malerwinkel". Dort malten wir eine Weile und kämpften ein wenig gegen den Wind. Das ist der berühmteste Platz für Künstler im Ort. Mein Bild hierzu muss noch fotografiert werden uns wird dann morgen zu sehen sein.

Jetzt erstmal einen ersten Kaffee - übrigens, wenn Moni nicht wäre, würde ich essen und trinken übers Malen vergessen;)

Ein hübsches Cafe ist gleich um die Ecke und wir sind froh, dass wir einkehren können, denn es ist schon etwas kalt.

USK Symposium 2018 in Porto, Day 1, Demo selection

After check-in we had to chose the Demo we would like to see. The choice was not easy as there where so many brillant artists to chose from. I decided to attend Renato Palmutis demo (from Brazil) as I love his watercolour work.

Nach dem Check-In konnten wir eine Demo auswählen und mir gefielen die Aquarelle von Renato Palmuti aus Brasilien so gut, weshalb ich ihn ausgewählt hatte. Es war wirklich schwer eine Auswahl zu treffen, denn alle Künstler waren hochkarätig.

USk Symposium 2018 in Porto - Ponte Dom Luis I (registration - day 1)

The registration was on Wednesday morning and thanks to the very well organised team we did not have to wait long till we got our Symposium Pass. The city was crowded with Sketchers of all nations ( more than 800 Artists from at least 48 countries). I was the lucky one to meet a friend directly in the beginning of the whole thing - what a coincidence - and we stuck together in every spare time we had. 

Die Registrierung war am Mittwoch früh und dank der guten Organisation mussten wir nicht lange auf unseren Symposium Pass warten. Die Stadt war bevölkert von Urban Sketchern aus aller Welt (mehr als 800 Künstler aus mind. 48 Ländern). Ich hatte das grosse Glück gleich am Anfang eine Freundin getroffen zu haben und wir haben dann die wenige freie Zeit in den Symposiums- Tagen zusammen verbracht.
