On our way further through the black forest we stopped in Todtmoos, to sightsee and have a bite. A quick sketch of a house close to where we sat. Maybe I colour it afterwards, but had no time to do it on site. Time to leave. We are invited and still have to drive further to our appointment.

Auf unserem weiteren Weg durch den Schwarzwald stoppten wir in Todtmoos zum Sightseing und um einen Happen zu Essen. Eine kurze Skizze eines Hauses, das ich direkt von meinem Sitzplatz aus sehen konnte. Vielleicht mache ich es später noch farbig, aber jetzt muss ich weiter. Wir sind eingeladen und müssen noch ein gutes Stück fahren, um pünktlich anzukommen.

The very calm lake reflects the landscape and the sky. This is what attracts me to paint. There are still no ships in sight this early in the morning. Just one bather is taking a morning bath. I do my fast direct watercolour (without a preliminary pencil drawing) in the shade and freeze a bit. The temperatures are still low, but today will be a sunny, warm day.
Der sehr ruhige See reflektiert die Landschaft und den Himmel. Genau das interessiert mich an dieser Ansicht. Noch sind keine Schiffe in Sicht an diesem ruhigen Morgen. Nur ein kühner Schwimmer nimmt ein Morgenbad, während ich ein schnelles direktes Aquarell male (ohne Vorzeichnung). Ich sitze im Schatten und friere ein wenig. Die Temperaturen sind noch immer recht niedrig, aber heute wird es lt. Wettervorhersage sonnig und warm.
Trees as far as you can see. After a quiet sleep by the lake the world around me awakes slowly and I can see the fantastic nature around me. To the left lots of trees and hedges and to the right is the Titisee (lake). I pulled out all the green colours of my small watercolour kit to paint the vegetation I see here. A smell of coffee and fresh bakery and the world is even more beautiful.
Bäume so weit das Auge reicht. Nach einer ruhigen Nacht am See erwacht die Welt nur langsam und ich kann die schöne Natur um mich herum betrachten. Für das obere Bild habe ich alle Grüntöne meines kleinen Reise-Aquarellkastens verwendet, um die Vegetation zu malen, die ich hier sehe. Der Geruch von frischem Kaffee und Gebäck macht alles noch schöner.
We found a good place to stay and have our bikes with us. There is a bike trail around the lake which is fun (and very short as the lake is not that big). I sit on a wooden bench and draw Titisee Neustadt from the opposite bank of the river. The water is calm and very clean, only very very few slow electric boats cross the idyllic water. Everything is clean and calm and slow.
Wir haben einen guten Platz zum Übernachten gefunden und da wir die Fahrräder dabei haben können wir den Fahrradweg, der um den See führt nutzen. Der Rundweg ist nicht so lang, da der See nicht so gross ist. Ich sitze nun gegenüber von Titisee Neustadt am anderen Ufer auf einer Holzbank und male, was ich von hier aus sehe. Das Wasser ist sehr ruhig und sehr sauber (Trinkwasserqualität) und nur sehr sehr wenige Elektroboote kommen sehr langsam und selten an diesem idyllischen Platz vorbei. Alles ist sauber, ruhig und langsam.
We are on our way to black forest again and make a little stop at Salenhof for a good meal. The trout and the esparragos are excellent here and I have a few minutes to do the upper drawing of the nearby house across the flower meadow. I had to hurry and draw the yellows in the still wet area in the foreground which makes for nice indefinite flows. Very dark green trees are all around as this land is already black forest area. We decided to stay a bit in the area and the close by Titisee.
Wir sind mal wieder auf den Weg in den Schwarzwald und machen einen kleinen Essensstop am Salenhof. Die Schwarzwald-Forelle und die Spargel mit Hollandaise sind excellent hier und ich hab tatsächlich noch ein paar Minuten, um den Hof gegenüber malen zu können. Ich beeile mich und die gelben Farbtupfer der Blumenwiese fließen in die noch feuchten Flächen im Vordergrund. Toll, wie die Farbe fließt. Da kann ich mich richtig begeistern. Sehr dunkle Bäume sind überall um uns herum, denn das hier ist bereits der Schwarzwald. Wir entscheiden uns noch ein wenig die Gegend anzuschauen und dann gehts weiter Richtung Titisee.
