Crailsheim - An der Johanneskirche - another watercolour test from goodie bag

I thought it would be nice to have a closer look at the area around Johanneskirche in Crailsheim. 

I packed the dot card of White Nights watercolours, which I received with the symposium goodie bag and had a try. 

In my opinion the colours are more dimmed down than my regular colours and the greens are totally different, but I like very much the look of it. More tests have to be done as these are 16 colours -  unlike the small test I did with just six QoR colours two days ago. If you compare my todays painting to my yesterday's drawing where I used my usual very bright palette this one feels more temperate and cool. The colours are not as easily to dissolve from their paper (...well, the dots come on watercolour paper which looks quite nice...) than the QoR colours (the QoR dots come on waterresistant paper, which is more clever than on watercolour paper as the watercolour paper soaks in the watered dots of colours and the colour is partly lost in the ground).

The right area of the double spread in my sketchbook was the most important for me (click to enlarge) so here it is again where you can see that the colours mix very well on the paper and make smooth transitions. Most of the colours are transparent, which is great for my mixes. Only Cadmium yellow medium and Cadmium red are opaque colours. Granulation is neglectable. I will do some more testing as long as the dot cards lasts (this is not very long - maybe one more drawing) but the good thing is that I still have 12 of those tube colours (which was my price of the raffles draw - thank you again Nevskaya Palitra for that) at home so I can refill some of what I need.  I would say I very much liked to paint with these colours and I believe they are a very good and affordable choice or addition to any artist watercolours.

Wie schoneinmal angekündigt wollte ich mir die Gegend um die Crailsheimer Johanneskirche genauer ansehen. 

Ich packte mir die Farbpunkte-Karte von White Nights aus meiner Goodiebag vom Symposium ein und hatte vor diese ausprobieren. Meiner Meinung nach sind diese Farben etwas zurückhaltender, als meine sonstigen Farben und die Grüntöne sind absolut anders (mehr blaue Anteile - ausser die Farbe Olivgrün), als die, die ich sonst verwende, aber mir gefielen die Farben sofort. Natürlich muss ich mehr Testbilder machen, denn es handelt sich immerhin um insgesamt 16 verschiedene Farben, da ist es nicht so übersichtlich, wie bei den sechs QoR Farben, die ich vor zwei Tagen getestet habe. 

Wenn man mein gestriges mit meinem heutigen Tagesbild vergleicht sieht man aber schon grosse Unterschiede. Gestern habe ich meine normale Outdoor-Palette verwendet und die Farben sind extrem leuchtend. Beim heutigen Bild dagegen wirken die Farben zurückhaltend und eher kühl. 

Die Anlösbarkeit der Farben mit Wasser ging etwas schwerer, als bei den QoR Farben (die White Nights Punkte waren auf Aquarellpapier aufgebracht, während die QoR auf wasserabweisendem Papier aufgebracht waren, d.h beim Anlösen ging viel Farbe der White Nights im saugenden Aquarellpapiergrund verloren - eigentlich schade - macht aber nichts, denn ich habe ja noch genau dieselben Tubenfarben, die ich am Symposium gewonnen hatte und ich kann sie zumindest teilweise problemlos nachfüllen.) 

Mir gefällt sehr, dass die Farben bis auf zwei alle transparent oder Halbtransparent sind (nur Cadmium gelb medium und Cadmium rot sind deckend). Übrigens habe ich bei den White Nights Farben kaum Granulieren feststellen können - siehe die Farbquadrate, die ich aufgemalt habe. Granulierende Farben sind Geschmackssache (...ich stehe drauf!). 

Auf jeden Fall hat es mir Spaß gemacht mit diesen Farben zu malen und ich denke die Farben sind eine gute Wahl, wenn man einen neuen Kasten haben möchte, bzw. eine schöne und preisgünstige Ergänzung, wenn man den einen oder anderen Farbton noch nicht hat.
