Sketchtour Schwäbisch Hall, Day 4 - Sketchwalk 3

 

That day in the morning we already had to say goodbye to some of our sketchfriends, as some had very long travels to get home. 

We met at Alte Wache for Sketchwalk 4. It was an open sketchwalk so some new sketchers were in town to join in. We sketched along Gelbinger Gasse, but Natalia and I stayed at Alte Wache to sketch there from the parking lot opposite. Great to have some time with Natalia and for the first time since the beginning of sketchtour I could sketch in calm and my sketch reflects that.

Sketchtour Schwäbisch Hall, Day 3 - Sketchwalk 2

 

 

My day started early again on this day 3 of Sketchtour Schwäbisch Hall. 

Lovely that before our Sketchwalk 2 began we again had a great breakfast with good Sketchfriends at Café am Markt. The market at market square was all around us and some of our early birds sketched the market and surroundings already.

The official Sketchwalk 2 began at Henkersbrücke, where I drew the upper sketch.

 

We had planned three scenic stops for the crowd of sketchers and everybody was in sketchfever.

 

There was a Sax Quartett playing on the bridge for 15 minutes...I had missed the beginning as I was talking to some sketchers at Johanniterkirche and then hurried back. Ten minutes left, before they stopped and moved on. It was speedsketching. After our drawing marathon, Isaac and I made the musicians sign our sketches.

Then we moved on the street towards Café Ableitner where some of us had lunch and I walked back to Ilge to bring back the rest of the herd towards point 3 which was Zollhüttengasse with some lovely old houses.

After the Sketchwalk we all met at Kunsthalle Würth for a throwdown of our artworks of the day (Videos and Photos on Insta @urbansketchershohenlohe). 

As always, everyone showed just one sketch, because we would not want to tear our sketchbook papers off.

 

Then came another highlight of the day which was the fantastic watercolour demo by Christof Ludwin with Roman Szmal Watercolours. Roman himself came to our Sketchtour which was a great honour.

Sketchtour Schwäbisch Hall, Nightsketching and Portraits...

The only nightsketch I was able to finish, was the one I did alongside Smadar and Isaac from cityhall towards Café am Markt. We were in such a good mood, that it was nearly sad to quit. The violet, Smadar used is awesome and we were having nerdy talks about colours that evening. 

Later in the night, I joined the small group sitting at our hotel living room having a glass or two and we still continued to sketch...

Sketchtour Schwäbisch Hall, still Day 2 - Siedersketching / Portraitsketching

 

10 minute people sketching

Katharina invited the Salt boilers (Sieder) of Schwäbisch Hall to Museum HFM and a delegation of them came in their traditional clothing and they also made music for us, gave a speech and we could sketch them in 10 minute poses. Awesome.

This lady is the first lady of the Sieder people, carrying the very important cock in her hands. The garments had the following colours: white, red, green and black.

Emily was my third sketching model and I sketched her a bit older than she was, but I am quite satisfied with the ten minute portrait sketch...

This was my view...and I started to sketch Emily after the Sieders first Lady...

Sketchtour Schwäbisch Hall, Day 2, Sketchwalk 1

 

The upper sketch is my favourite sketch of day 2 and was made in Pfarrgasse that Friday morning, but let's begin the day from the start...

The day before was very long and fun and we sat together and sketched still at the hotel at nighttime.

Then a very early wake up and a small 15 min. coffee portrait sketch at the hotel (we Sketchers had a little living room and kitchen together which was very comfortable...) 

 

I had made a reservation for a small group of old sketchfriends at Café am Markt for having an awesome breakfast together...

 

Very enjoyable combination: Eating and sketching! Later I had to hurry to the museum HFM to organize the registration of our participants together with Katharina (@rinibommel).

When finished, the first sketchwalk began with scenic panoramics and great views to the old centre of SHA. 

Was not in the mood to sketch a large panoramic and honestly did not have enough time so I sketched Crailsheimer Tor und Haus der Sieder before heading back to Neubau where the others still sketched. We continued to Pfarrgasse where we lost some on the way because there were so many sketchable places...

This sketch is from Pfarrgasse...some rain was approaching and we were hungry so we went to Alte Wache for a great snack and some fast portrait sketching.

I sketched Anne, but I could not make refinements in the values for time reaysons and the paper never seemed to dry as it was a bit moist after the rainshower.

Our last stop of the afternoon was Goethe Institut. I just had 10 minutes left for a pencil sketch of the top tower of Goethe Institut which is one of the oldest in the country. 

It was time for a throwdown in the late afternoon and Katharina had prepared an awesome surprise later that day... so stay tuned for that...

Here comes our throwdown after Sketchwalk 1 (all in all we had done a lot more sketches into our books, but everyone showed just a favourite - we would not like to destroy our sketchbooks by taking out pages).
