The Augsburg sketches and fotos are finished now and I came back to another subject which was a larger painting of a Sicilian street. It took some time, but now I consider this large watercolour painting finished, I began some time ago.

It looks quite different in the end. The painting shows this Sicilian town and in the background there is the sea. If you look really close you might spot the two tiny people I drew in. For the sky I used a mixture of Cerulean and Ultramarine with a very big flat brush.
Nach meinen Augsburg Skizzen habe ich mich einem längst fälligen Thema wieder zugewendet und das war eines meiner Sizilien-Bilder, die ich noch nicht ganz fertig gemalt hatte. Jetzt hat es doch noch ordentlich Zeit gebraucht, bis ich mich dem Bild wieder widmen konnte und das recht grosse Aquarell würde ich nun als fertig ansehen. Links kann man meine Anfänge sehen.
Am Ende sieht es nochmal ganz anders aus. Es zeigt eine sizilianische Stadt und im Hintergrund kann man das Meer sehen. Wenn man ganz genau hinschaut, kann man sogar die beiden kleinen Personen im Bild sehen (Bild oben). Für den Himmel habe ich eine Mischung aus Cerulean und Ultramarine mit einem sehr großen, flachen Pinsel aufgetragen.
This is the beginning of a larger studio painting. I am too tired to continue. Working days are long at the moment and painting can only take a tiny part of the day.
Das ist der Beginn eines grösseren Aquarells. Ich bin aber zu müde, um noch weiterzumalen. Die Arbeitstage sind momentan lang und da bleibt fürs Malen nicht mehr viel Zeit.
What can I say about this one? It is in acrylic technique and it is slightly bigger than my usual watercolours... it is about 40 x 50 cm and it was quite fun to paint it with big brushes.
Was kann ich über dieses Bild sagen? Tja,...es ist ein Acrylbild - etwas grösser: 40 x 50 cm und es machte Spass mal mit richtig dicken Pinseln zu malen.
A friend of mine came back from beautiful Malta a few days ago. I used gouache for the sky as the blue is much deeper than my usual ultramarine watercolour. The thick Arches Paper was fun to paint on as it takes a lot of water... and this is already my painting number 400! More than 1 year of blogging...and lots of fun...thanks for watching and your nice comments.
Einer meiner Freunde ist erst kürzlich aus dem schönen Malta zurückgekehrt. Daher das Thema. Ich habe Gouache für den Himmel verwendet, denn dieses Blau ist kräftiger als meine normale Ultramarin-Aquarellfarbe. Besonders grossen Spaß machte das dicke Arches Papier, das unheimlich saugfähig ist... und dies ist bereits mein Bild Nummer 400! Also mehr als 1 Jahr tägliches bloggen, viel Spaß und kein Ende in Sicht... Danke für eure Treue und die netten Kommentare.
The greens are greener and brighter in late spring. I love this time of year.
Die Grüntöne sind grüner und leuchtender im späten Frühling. Ich liebe diese Zeit des Jahres besonders.

The room I painted was illuminated with a somehow artificial light which I wanted to show with the more or less unnaturally contrasted faces of the persons.
Jeder Tag sollte ein Fest sein. Also geniesse den Tag und lass es dir gut gehen.
Der Raum, den ich hier gemalt habe war mit künstlichen Lichtquellen erhellt und dies hab ich versucht mit den eher unnatürlichen Farben und den starken Kontrasten in den Gesichtern der abgebildeten Personen darzustellen.
