As you know I am very interested in portraits and as a training I thought it would be great to sketch statues. The good part is that they do not move so it is easier to get their features right and another advantage is that you do not have to care a lot about colour. The important thing is just the right contrast or the value of one colour to another.
Here I first played with watercolour and later used some coloured pencils to get into more detail of the Angel. This figure can be seen on Piazza San Domenico in Palermo.
Wie ihr wisst bin ich ein Fan von Portraits und habe mir überlegt, dass es eine gute Übung sei, Statuen zu malen, denn diese bewegen sich nicht und man muss sich wegen der Farbe keine Gedanken machen - hauptsache die Farbwerte stimmen.
Angefangen habe ich mit Aquarell und die Details dann später mit Buntstiften aufgemalt. Diese Mischtechnik verwende ich derzeit öfters. Macht Spaß und ist wieder eine zeitweise Abkehr vom direkten Aquarell, denn es soll mir ja nicht langweilig werden.
