Sketchbook Sicily - Palermo, Nightsketch at "Sobremesa"

Version II

This year I was convinced that a holiday out of my country would be impossible. The covid numbers rose everywhere in the world. I investigated and found out that Siculy was almost comparable to my small world and although it was a bit of a risk I decided to fly there for a week. I booked a flight to Palermo because I really needed some time out.

So this is my first flight in these difficult times...

The airport was like quite empty but the flight was nearly fully booked.
After 2 hours of flight time I was so happy to get out of the airport and breathe deeply the fresh air.

The beautiful city of Palermo was waiting for me. I am so lucky to revisit this vibrant, energetic beautiful place by the sea.

It was already late in the evening as I checked into the hotel. Then I somehow ran into a little restaurant with the best ever pasta alla norma and beautiful desserts. Think I am somehow a "truffles pig" to find these exceptional spots...if you ever are around search for "restaurantino sobremesa".

My sketch is a nightsketch sitting in this very restaurant. I could not finish as a.) they very ready to close soon and b). I was so extremely tired...tomorrow is another day and let's see what I am up to... the upper first sketch (Version II) is the later coloured sketch and the second (Version I) is the sketch as far as I did it in the very evening as I arrived to Palermo.

Version I
