Main Valley
This July my watercolour painting mentor Gaby welcomed me to paint along with her and three other artists in the Main Valley. Rainer organized the trip and was our location scout. Great fun, beautiful weather and great people. This view is from above the very steep vineyards onto Main river.

Casino
Quick sketch from a balcony close to the sea. Imagine the seagulls sound in your ears.

Snorkelling
This picture flashed me while looking through a leaflet at the hotel. Snorkelling is big fun.
Aus einem Prospekt im Hotel stammt das Foto zu dieser Skizze. Schnorcheln ist klasse.

Bonolzhof
This painting is a bigger one done in the studio from a photo reference.
You see a view direction Burgberg (a small mountain with a red tower on top - a landmark in Hohenlohe as the region is rather flat). It shows a November day - very clear view - no leaves on the trees anymore. Maybe this is a bit of a contrast to the beautiful summer weather we have outside today.

Pizza
This is part of a Pizza sign. We mostly had beautiful Portuguese food, but also great Italian Pizza. I used a simple black pen which bled out a bit when I put the watercolour onto it. Need to change pens.

In Bad Aibling
The week-end before I spent some time with friends in Bad Aibling. A super relaxed and beautiful town in Bavaria. I did not have time to paint on site so I did it afterwards.

Bourgogne
Bourgogne is a beautiful region in France. It is the place where the famous Dijon mustard and good wines are made. I'd like to show you three steps from the beginning to the end of my painting. Although usually I nearly can't stop when I am "in the flow" I urged myself to stop in between to take the reference photos. No underpainting here and I worked from dark to lighter colours.

Castelos
Castelos is one of the nice beach bars in Portimao. Maybe the best one with friendly staff and excellent coffee...you see I am always in the coffee mood...

Black Ship
Today again a sketch from Portugal. This was a fast one from the Cafe at Tivoli Marina. While sipping an espresso you have a beautiful view over the river.

Nevers Canal
This is a painting of the "Canal Lateral à la Loire" (which has a side branch to a little harbour in Nevers). On each side of the water you can easily bike and walk. For this one the most interesting aspect were the beautiful old trees alongside the waterway throwing their shadows onto the water and the sideways.

Auberge du Pont Canal
Mid August usually is the time for me to get into the "France-mood" and pack my stuff to leave for a while. This year everything is different, but as I am thinking about France a lot I painted the Auberge du Pont Canal close to the old and very beautiful town of Nevers in the middle of France.

Hunting Lodge
This is my second one of the day in Bad Windsheim.
I did not finish as we were tired, hungry and there was a nice Vernissage in the afternoon in order to show all the masterpieces which we couldn't miss.

Aumühle
On Sunday I went to a "painters get-together" in Bad Windsheim along with three painting friends. We sat in the shadow under huge trees, painted the above building of the old Aumühle and chatted with other painters and people coming by. What a relaxed weekend.

Ferragudo
I tried to capture a part of the tiny fishing village of Ferragudo. About three years ago we met Rolf Osang (author of various books) there in a beautiful small gallery in town. He told us that there was a larger ARTE ALGARVE exhibition in Lagoa in an old winery. It was fantastic and every time we went there, we saw extraordinary paintings. But when we came back this April again, there was nothing anymore...does anyone know what happened to ARTE ALGARVE?
